10/04/2007 - 8:00pm

The Harford Park Community Association needs your help with ideas on how to use the community building at 2522 Linwood Road for fundraising and community-building efforts. Please come to the October 4 meeting at 7pm and bring your suggestions for social events that will bring your neighbors out!

A message from HPCA President Don Mathews:

Greetings, ________ ____ _______ ________ the blank line is where the name should be and I left it blank to let you know that we need help. The building has had needed repairs and upgrades done so we can continue to bring the many events and services to the community. These events and services I speak of such as shrimp feast, crab feast, flea markets, holiday parties, the beef and bingo, bus trips, the stream clean, dumpster day, working hard to keep crime almost non existent, the COP program and countless others are run by a small handful of people.

I should say neighbors they all live within the community and want to see a safe, clean and close community. Now the reason I say we need help is the HPCA owns the building we meet in, and it takes money to maintain it. We need membership and out of over 1700 families in the area we only have about 40 that are active and paid members. We are looking for ideas on how to raise money to replenish the operating and building funds. The building has two floors, are open for suggestions, if we don't start getting people to the meetings and events the H.P.C.A. won't make it. The challenge has been made to the executive board and now I present it to everyone else to bring Ideas on how to raise monies and use the building to keep the H.P.C.A. open and running for a long time.
